'Parks And Recreation' Recap: "Bowling For Votes"

Oh Leslie, I would vote for you. And I don't care if you're short or your earrings are weird. Tonight's episode of Parks and Recreation, "Bowling For Votes" showed everyone just how much Leslie cares about getting votes, even though these votes may come from total dickweeds.

The plot was this; After a focus group Leslie becomes concerned about one rude attendant who doesn't think that she'd be someone he can go bowling with. Against Ben's warning on becoming too focused on one thing, Leslie decides to have a bowling fundraiser. Meanwhile, Donna, April, Andy, Jerry and Chris take part in a cold call fundraising night. Chris is obviously enthusiastic and April wants to hurt his happiness. Of course, April gets her wish when Milly decides to break up with Chris. Back at the bowling alley Ron is appalled by Tom's feminine yet successful bowling technique (Granny-style, baby).

The belly laughs from Leslie has kind of fallen off after she decided to run for office but that works. We actually don't want her to screw up her chances of getting elected to city council. The character of Leslie Knope now serves as the main through line and while we don't necessarily get good quotables out of it (you know, the stuff that GIFs and memes are made of) we're still very thankful that something with so much heart can stick around. If we're going to talk about laughs tonight, we'll talk about Ron and Tom, whose bowling techniques varied in manliness. Yes, all of those moments will be GIFs.

And let's not forget about the surprising heart that April offered to Chris when Milly Gergich broke up with him. Who knew that could be possible and yes, sincere.

Again, there wasn't anything particularly surprising or earth shattering about the episode, but Parks and Recreation is rarely about the explosive flourish that we see with other shows. And damnned if we didn't feel so good when Ben defended Leslie's honor by punching that dickweed in the face (can you tell I'm enjoying the word "dickweed" tonight). But all in all, I think my favorite moment was the end scene where Ron bowls like a granny and gets a perfect game.

SumOlogy: Ben defending Leslie got me all hot and stuff.
Grade:7.5/10

Extra quotes:

"When I eat it is the food that is scared." -Ron

"You're so down on the strikes they should call you Norma Ray." -Leslie

"I wished for his happiness to go away. I might be a wizard." -April
