I need a new desktop background really, really badly. Since I got my new laptop six months ago, I've had the same boring blue rocks hiding behind my icons. I'm a Geekologist, dammit! I should be sporting the latest and greatest in virtual wallpaper! Instead, I've been putting up with the default nature photo for months? This will stand no longer. I must find a new background to reclaim my honor!

Here to help is Pokémon fan site PLDH, whose new project, The 493, aims to depict every single pocket monster as a minimalist desktop background. These are some of the highlights so far--they have 104 complete and promise frequent updates

These are awesome, but I've made a solemn vow not to rest until The 493 completes a background for my favorite Pokémon, Wailord. That guy doesn't get nearly enough respect.
