This is for everyone who remembers the jingle to "Nintendo Cereal System" (It's a fruit-flavored crunch!)

This is for everyone who would've made a game purchase based on this advertisement alone:

This, Geekologists, is for everyone who loves retro video game ads.

The fine folks at Gamervision recently "discovered" these two gems in a giant pile of old VHS tapes. You'll notice, as you watch them, that they're sandwiched between some truly ancient programming. Public service announcement: If you're a child of the 90s like me, feel free to sing along to the ABC "After these messages..." song. There's no shame. Anyway. The surprising thing about the two games advertised here is that they seem to have inspired some modern hits. Take a look:

OK, so these aren't really treasures from the ancient past. They're retro versions of games we know and love, but that doesn't make them any less awesome. The whole aesthetic is just perfect. Over-the-top acting, grainy video quality, and a really enthusiastic tech demo--sheer brilliance. It's just a shame that the Count Chocula commercial STILL excludes Yummy Mummy and Fruit Brute. Those guys need love too.
