Last night the Tim Burton 3D flick "Alice in Wonderland" earned close to $17.4 million in the U.S., setting it up to yet again be number 1 at the box office. Last weekend when the film opened it earned over $116 million and if tonight's crowd is as fantasy driven as last night's was, the rest of the weekend's projections are close to $60 million. The film's influence is even being shown on websites like imdb.com where the top three stars (based on searches, ratings, and discussions) are currently Mia Wasikowska (Alice), Johnny Depp (The Mad Hatter), and Helena Bonham Carter (The Red Queen). Even Tim Burton himself, not even an actor, has broken the top ten at number 8 (still below Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stweart). Whether it is the stunning visuals, the familiar, fun plot, or the all star cast (with especially stand out performances by both the Red and White Queen, something in "Alice" is certainly appealing to the public and the craze shows no sign of stopping (at least not until something a little better than "She's Out of My League" or the upcoming "The Bounty Hunter" gets released).
