Fresh off her Dancing With the Stars win, the Pussycat Doll will appear in How I Met Your Mother's sixth season as Jessica Glitter, Robin's old sidekick. Of course, we're excited about this, not for Scherzinger's part (though it helped that she rocked the part of Maureen in Neil Patrick Harris' production of Rent), but because it gives us another chunk of the Robin Sparkles backstory. According to Michael Ausiello, Jessica Glitter was Robin's co-star on her Canadian talk show, which also featured guest star Alan Thicke.
In a recent interview, Cobie Smulders (who has so gleefully donned the blonde wig and jean jacket to play Robin's pop star alter ego) warned that the third Robin Sparkles production wouldn't be a music video so much as "a variety show," a prequel to beloved tunes "Let's Go to the Mall" and "Sandcastles in the Sand." Still, there will be songs, because HIMYM creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas do love their incredibly catchy Canadian pop hits.
The flashback episode is titled "Glitter" and will air during November sweeps. How I Met Your Mother returns to CBS on Monday, September 20 at 8 p.m.
