Movies That Never Get Old

Everyone I know will not shut up about Inception, the Christopher Nolan mind-bender that's already nabbed over $60 million at the box office. But based on the conversations I'm hearing, it seems that most of the hype for this flick is tied to its ending, which leaves me wondering whether it will be as good the second time you see it. And if you can't watch a movie more than once, is it really that good? This question inspired us to make a list of the top five movies that never get old, the ones you can watch endlessly and each time you do it feels like a new journey. Here are our choices, inspired by Twitter's trending topic #moviesthatnevergetold.

Finding Nemo

In the quest to find movies that never get old, Twitter user DABieberVille nominated Finding Nemo. Although I love Toy Story, Wall-E, and Up, Finding Nemo stands out in my mind as the quintessential Pixar Disney film. The ocean life is stunningly animated, the characters are hilarious, and the story is both epically adventurous and absolutely heartwarming.

Mean Girls

Also on Twitter, SJHM_x and iSpySky suggested Mean Girls, the perfect quotable teen comedy. No matter how many times I hear "You go Glen Coco," I still laugh. Just goes to show the power of Tina Fey's writing. Plus, who can resist Lindsay Lohan when she was at the top of her game (and still an adorable redhead)?

Airplane!

Airplane! is one of the best comedies you will encounter because there are so many hilarious details. Every scene has layers of wordplay, sight gags, and ridiculous situational comedy. Even though the movie is 30-years-old, the jokes still land (even if the plane can't).

Fight Club

Although it also features a famous twist ending, Fight Club stands the test of time due to the stellar performances by Brad Pitt, Edward Norton, and Helena Bonham-Carter, as well as David Fincher's exquisite filming. This 1999 movie based on the 1996 book by Chuck Palahniuk kept us enthralled for over two hours when we first saw it. And still, years later, every time the Pixies' "Where Is My Mind?" comes on at the end, we can't help but stare in awe.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

In my opinion, the ultimate romance is not Titanic, The Notebook, or The Twilight Saga...it's Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. It's one thing to fall in love in a fairy tale land where true love conquers all, but it's another to deal with the strains of real-life relationships in the modern world and to still emerge victorious with your companion. The Charlie Kaufman script is brilliant, biting, and bittersweet in every way, while Michel Gondry's absurd film techniques create an imaginative dreamscape. Kate Winslet and Jim Carrey give incredible performances as the unlikely New York couple, while supporting players like Elijah Wood, Kirsten Dunst, Mark Ruffalo, and Tom Wilkinson pack the movie with unyielding talent. Overall, this film is simply good every time, even if you know what is going to happen.

Honorable mentions: Love Actually, Aladdin, Goonies, The Matrix, and The Sound of Music. How does our list rank next to yours?
