The Scott Charles-Stewart adaptation of Cassandra Clare's six-book YA series The Mortal Instruments has officially announced its Jace Wayland: unsurprisingly, the foxy Shadowhunter will be played by Jamie Campbell Bower, a Twilight and Harry Potter alum. Sorry to let down everyone who was hoping for Alex Pettyfer. I was too, frankly.
Lily Collins weighs in on the casting for Simon in The Mortal Instruments
Lily Collins weighs in as Alex Pettyfer as Jace in The Mortal Instruments, sorta
The Mortal Instruments' Jace being cast opposite Lily Collins' Clary Fray
Bower, who was up against Ed Speeler (Eragon) and Leebo Freeman for the role of Jace, also previously appeared in Camelot as King Arthur. Screen Gems is clearly angling to make The Mortal Instruments into a Twilight-esque franchisem beginning with the first installment, City Of Bones. Likewise, the role of Jace, like Edward Cullen in the vampire series, is a true starmaker.
Harry Potter's Jamie Campbell Bower and Bonnie Wright are engaged!
And: Read a sh*t-ton of Twilight news here!
The Mortal Instruments follows teen Clary Fray, who "has The Sight, and can see both demons and Shadowhunters. Jace is one of the best of the latter. When Clary's mother is abducted, she is forced to learn about her bloodline and abilities in order to get her mother back. We wrote earlier today of the casting of Clary's BFF Simon Lewis (above), throwing Logan Lerman's name into the mix. Ya think?
You guys happy about Jamie Campbell Bowers' casting?
