When I saw Beau Willimon's amazing play Farragut North at The Atlantic a few years ago, I was blown away. The story features a young political operative and more back-stabbing than your average Shakespearean tragedy. And as much as I enjoyed the piece on stage the one dominant thought walking out of the theater was, "Man, that will make an even better movie." Fast forward to today. George Clooney is set to make good on that thought. The movie star will direct the screen adaptation (also written by Willimon) starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, Paul Giamatti, Chris Pine, and possibly Evan Rachel Wood and Marisa Tomei. Clooney himself will likely play the very small role of the candidate (who doesn't even appear in the play). The film is supposed to start shooting in February, so let's keep our fingers crossed that it actually happens. It's too fantastic a script not to.
