Thanks to Lena Dunham this summer will be excruciatingly slow as we wait for the second round of Girls to arrive come next season. As the HBO series aired its season one finale "She Did" Sunday night, Lena tweeted that on the very same day she was hard at work finishing up the season finale of the second already. (OMG, GET HERE NOW.)
As diehard fans know, SO MUCH happened last night. In short, Marnie made out with that guy from Saturday Night Live, Shoshanna finally got rid of the V card, Jessa got married to that Bridesmaids threesome guy (wtf) and Hannah, well, Hannah got her cake and she ate it too. Left with a stolen purse after a fight with Adam, she ended up on the beach all alone enjoying the takeaway from the wedding.
Girls, thanks for making these past couple of months worth watching a television show religiously once again. And more importantly, giving us some of the best awkward and yet laugh-worthy moments from any HBO series. As in, when Adam peed on Hannah in the shower, Marnie broke up with her boyfriend in the middle of sex, Shoshanna ran around basically naked all coked up and when Jessa told a partygoer that his mother was poor when he was born.
So, after a season of craziness and satisfaction, who would you consider your favorite? Who can you relate to the most? Take the poll below and start from the pilot all over again now!
Oh, and thanks very much to Judd Apatow, Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke and Zosia Mamet too, of course.
Anthony Schneck:
This is difficult for me because the characters are written so well that they all speak to me in some way. They're fully realized human beings, not cheap facsimiles of dated Sex and the City characters, and as such their human struggles speak to me. The realism of the show is a pragmatic one; it's not beholden to reality the way typical "realism" is. Anywho, I voted for Shoshanna because we're both virgins.
