And so it begins. MTV reality star Amber Portwood, mother to two-year-old Leah, was transported to Indiana’s Rockville Correctional Facility Wednesday, beginning her five-year sentence for a December 2011 drug arrest.
For approximately two weeks, Portwood will undergo a diagnostic evaluation period, a spokesman for the state department told Us Weekly. During this time, the 22-year-old is not allowed to have any visitors or receive mail.

The Teen Mom star was given a five-year sentence after passing up a court-ordered drug rehabilitation program, which would have prevented her from serving time. That decision totally makes sense…
"In my situation, I felt in the program there were a lot of eyes on me," she explained to ABC News about her decision. "I was very depressed, all alone, all bitter at everyone. I felt like that wasn’t the life I wanted to live, I felt like I’d rather do my time and get it over with."
Although most of us would probably choose rehab over jail, maybe this is what Amber needs to do in order to get her life in order. It’s going to be difficult for her to get through this, especially not being able to take care of Leah for such a long time. Best of luck, Amber!
