In episode two of the “Let’s all suck up to Ryan Murphy” show, we got the best homework assignment ever, the worst music video ever, and two people went home: it’s dance-ability week! Right at the start of the show, Taryn, who was almost in the bottom three last week, chose to leave the competition unexpectedly. She was last seen on the phone with her mom and then she was gone. I thought it was weird that she didn’t get a chance to explain her decision, although it was most likely due to homesickness. The other contestants didn’t get a chance to be sad about her departure however, because they had some dancing to do.

Homework Assignment: “We Got The Beat” by The Go-Go’s
The special guest this week was Samuel Larsen. Who? Oh, one of the winners from last season, who I referred to fondly as “Dreads” while watching. Couldn’t they have gotten Glee’s resident dancer, Harry Shum Jr. aka Mike Chang? I love me some Mike Chang. Anyway, Abraham was the winner.
Music Video: “Party Rock Anthem” by LMFAO
First of all, “Party Rock Anthem”, really? Wasn’t that song popular like nine months ago? Not to mention, it’s pretty impossible to sing well. Second of all, choreographer Zach Woodlee is awesome. He’s not afraid to tell these guys that they suck at dancing, which they kind of do. Some choice quotes: “Wow, they know nothing.” “Hey, shut it! That was absolutely horrible.” “At this point, standing would be better.” The whole music video was a disaster. They were supposed to be at a house party, but they were basically rolling around in corn chips, playing spin the bottle and having a lame dance circle. While playing spin the bottle, Aylin made out Blake, which made Charlie jealous, so she made out with him too. In unrelated news, I’m starting to hate Aylin.
Last Chance Performances:
Dani – “Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac
Simple, emotional and beautiful. Shout out to the banjo guy who was really getting into it.
Tyler – “Daniel” by Elton John
An improvement from last week, but not memorable at all.
Lily – “Man, I Feel Like A Woman” by Shania Twain
Fun. The judges had a bigger issue with her inability to accept criticism than with her performance.
Eliminated: Dani
Dani leaving the competition so soon is shocking, not just because she’s so talented but also because she already has a strong fanbase after appearing on America’s Got Talent last year. For the second time in a row, the judges have sent someone home just because they don’t jump up and down whenever something happens (I’m looking at you, Aylin). Ryan said that Dani was "an artist but not a performer”. I guess there’s no room for artists on Glee. After all, Glee just cranks out mediocre covers of pop songs to make money on iTunes. Yeah, I said it.
SumOlogy: You’re too good for Glee, Dani.
Grade: C
