Just days after Modelinia sparked rumors that one miss Karlie Kloss would star in the 2013 Pirelli Calendar, Italian newspaper Corriere Della Sera is reporting that respected war photographer Steve McCurry will get behind the lens for the iconic shoot. McCurry, a Philadelphia native, is most noted for sneaking across the Pakistan border into rebel-controlled Afganistan in 1984 just before the Soviet Invasion by disguising himself in native garb. He strategically sewed rolls of film into his clothing, later using the photos - like the one above - as first tangible evidence of the conflict. In other words, shooting naked models in a tropical region will be a cake walk.

McCurry, oddly enough, follows in the footsteps of photogs like Mario Sorrenti, Richard Avedon, Peter Lindbergh, and (ugh) Terry Richardson. This year's Pirelli Calendar shoot, which dates back to 1964, will take place in Brazil. Said McCurry, "I want to portray women who are sexy without being naked," which leads us to believe he'll tone down the usual myriad of boobs and butt.
What do you guys think about McCurry's new role?
