Rand Paul endorsed Mitt Romney on Sean Hannity's show Thursday night, the biggest concession the Paul clan has shown to the Republican nominee yet.
Just a month ago, Paul père seemed rearing to march his lowly delegate count all the way to the convention out of sheer ideological hubris. At least, his supporters were acting like he was, crashing the delegate nominations of smaller state caucuses and loading the delegations with Paulites.
But Paul dropped out of the race last month, in a move PoliticOlogy saw as leaving gracefully to cede the political landscape to his son. Rand Paul is an up-and-comer in the party, and seems primed to be more conciliatory with his mainstream Republican cohorts than his "no"-voting father. A messy convention in Tampa would have a shadow on Rand Paul's career; instead, who knows, he may get a speaking spot at the convention.
All this must have Paultards steamed. They've spent the past year—actually, they've spent the past four years—working the comments section of every Paul article published, lambasting MSM writers for being in the establishment tank, and promising readers that by the time they opened their eyes, Paul would already be president. Rand Paul's endorsement of Mitt Romney—the man Paultards claim "bought" the election (they kinda got a point on that one)—is the surest sign yet that the Ron Paul Revolution will end the way so many other revolutions do: being appropriated the powers it meant to replace.
Or, to quote the top commenter on Politico's article: "Rand you sold us out with your kiss on the mouth to Romney, I will never vote for you now, never!"
