It's still a little early in the morning to get your heart kicked around the block a few times, but I can't recommend highly enough that you tear open your rib cage and let Fiona Apple have another go. Her first new album in seven years, the succinctly titled The Idler Wheel is wiser than the Driver of the Screw, and Whipping Cords will serve you more than Ropes will ever do, drops June 19—if you haven't already, give a listen to the album's first single "Every Single Night" and then sink you teeth into another new song called "Werewolf" below.

First thoughts?
It's amazing, of course—love the deceptively simple piano arrangement and how it subtly builds with mild drum and banjo flourishes. "We can still each other, all we've got to do is avoid each other… nothing wrong when a song ends in a minor key." Holy Terron Teen Wolf recap, I could just gushing all over my keyboard right now. Can't get enough of those ascending/descending piano chords at 1:40… can't figure out what the school yard children sound effect has to do with any of it… and can't decide which brand of tissue I should have at the ready when The Idler Wheel… finally arrives. It's going to be a very heavy day at the office, I can tell you that much.
