Cue the fireworks. According to Us Weekly, Katy Perry and boyfriend, Florence + the Machine guitarist Rob Ackroyd, have split after about a month of dating. Do I hear a follow up to “Part of Me” in the works?
A source close to the “California Girls” singer, 27, told the magazine that the breakup was mainly Perry’s decision.
“Rob was gutted but Katy said she didn’t want to get in too deep and then break his heart,” the source told Us. “So it was best to cut things off before they got serious.”
Even though Katy and Rob only dated for a few weeks, the breakup took the pop phenomenon’s close friends and family by surprise. The source added that the two were constantly together and always communicating with one another when apart.
“Even when Rob left to continue touring America with Florence they would speak on the phone up to three times a day and she’d be constantly texting him."
Although this is sad for both Katy and Rob, the breakup has the potential of creating some great music on both ends. Now that we know everything about Perry’s relationships with former boyfriend Travis McCoy and ex-husband Russell Brand from the songs “Circle the Drain” and “Part of Me” respectively, fans are mostly likely in for the dirty details of her ill-fated romance with Ackroyd in a future song. She’s turning into the new Taylor Swift with all of these guys!
