Danny Boyle Says "Thanks, But No Thanks" To Directing The Next James Bond
The guessing game over who will direct the next James Bond screen adventure and attempt to fill the intimidating shoes of non-returning Skyfall director Sam Mendes continues. Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, Slumdog Millionaire) was recently asked by Cinema Blend whether he'd consider taking over the reigns of the 007 franchise on Bond 24. His response:
"It's not for me, I'm afraid… Because of the Bond thing in the Olympics, I visited the [Skyfall] set a few times and saw Sam, [producers] Barbara Broccoli, Michael Wilson and Daniel Craig and everybody. T...

Brett commented on Bummer: 'Skyfall' Director Sam Mendes Won't Return For Next James Bond Film:
“It'll never happen, but imagining the possibilities of a Christopher Nolan-directed Bond movie is more than a little exciting. Whoever directs the next one better put the damn gun barrel sequence at the BEGINNING where it belongs, though!”
Bummer: 'Skyfall' Director Sam Mendes Won't Return For Next James Bond Film
Unsurprising, but Oscar-winning Skyfall director Sam Mendes has formally turned down the offer to direct the next James Bond film--tentatively titled (per tradition) Bond 24—after vaguely hinting that he'd be open to helming another 007 adventure.
"It has been a very difficult decision not to accept [producers] Michael [G. Wilson] and Barbara [Broccoli's] very generous offer to direct the next Bond movie," says Mendes. "Directing Skyfall was one of the best experiences of my professional life, but I have theatre and other commitments, including productions of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory and King Lear, that need my complete focus over the next year and beyond."
While I'm writing this, I'm listening to all the soundtracks from the previous Bond films. Let me tell you, it's really making me feel like drinking martinis, buying an Aston Martin and banging ladies that swim in underwater bars. How does one get that job anyway?
The teaser trailer for Sam Mendes' bond film Skyfall hit today. You won't be disappointed, mostly because it looks like it's going back to its Casino Royal roots- perfectly combining the fun of Bond with the drama of spy movies. Plus you have the awesome word association game. Do you know anyone else who would say "Provocateur" after "Agent" unless it was a guy who has seen his fair share of ridiculous lingerie? I don't know why anyone would spend that much money on some underwear that a guy is probably going to rip off with his teeth anyway.
But enough about hot ladies (boy, am I in a weird mood today), let's talk about the potential for greatness. Obviously there's going to be a killer scene involving a subway, beautiful shots of the British flag, and James Bond killing peeps. All in a days work, people!
