Upfronts are over and, one interesting wrinkle this year, was that a couple of shows were renewed with the understanding that next year would be their last season. Both 30 Rock and Gossip Girl are getting 13 episodes to tie up loose ends, bring back any stabbing robots, and infuriate our editor all over again. We aren't ones to let a good idea slip by, so why stop there. Here are some other shows that networks should put out of their misery:
Glee

This one is almost too easy. The show has pretty much worn out any goodwill that it had left and next season's show within a show, following some of the graduated students as they try to “make it” in New York, already sounds like a total disaster. Just give them 13 more episodes and enough of a budget to license “Stairway to Heaven” for the series finale.
Community

Bear with me on this one. I love Community, but I think there are a number of reasons for everyone to call it a day after next season. Given the show's creative uncertainty, especially regarding the return of Dan Harmon, it may make sense to entice him back for one more year with the chance to wrap everything up. Additionally, it would give the show the chance to end on its own terms and leave the air before it wears out its welcome, The Office-style. Four years seems like a natural stopping point for a show about college and, honestly, given the ratings and how flat-out weird Community is, it is way more than anyone could have reasonably expected.
The Office

Speaking of The Office, I almost didn't put it on this list because it is so far past the show's natural stopping point (Michael's departure) that it almost doesn't matter at this point. Its not like there's going to be a satisfying way to end it and I'm not going to begrudge the cast and crew from milking every last penny out of it that they can. Still, obviously the show is completely out of gas and it would be nice to see those people work on something fresh and exciting again.
Elementary

I know it hasn't aired yet, but if CBS thought they could rob the BBC blind (and yes, I know the BBC doesn't have a lockdown on modern Sherlock Holmes adaptations but the timing is just a little suspicious) and get away with it they've got another thing coming.
America's Next Top Model

Just because a show is unscripted doesn't mean it can't feel as stale as an aging sitcom, and America's Next Top Model has clearly stretched its format about as far as it can go. The ratings have been taken and the show cleared house a couple of months ago, firing everyone except Tyra. Now it's been banished to Fridays and it seems like even The CW is ready to pull the plug on what was once its most popular show.
