My favorite thing in the world today is… well, let me rephrase that: my least favorite thing in the world today is that I won’t be in San Francisco next month. Why, you ask? Well, modern classical icon Philip Glass will be teaming up with indie folk harpist/warbler Joanna Newsom and violinist Tim Fain for a one-off collaborative performance at the Warfield Theatre on June 25, part of Glass’ Days and Nights Festival.

Pitchfork reports that An Evening With Philip Glass & Joanna Newsom, co-presented by ((folkYEAH!)), will benefit the local Henry Miller Library, in need of construction and renovation work. I expect tickets are surely sold out by now, but if you’re in the area, start scouring eBay now.
I don’t pretend to know too much about Glass’ work outside The Hours and his David Bowie symphonies, but seriously, can you think of a better foil for Joanna Newsom’s plucky wonkiness? Is it normal to bootleg a classical performance? I think we may need to get somebody in there with a flash recorder. Let’s make this happen, yeah?
