I’ve always heard about this show called The Vampire Diaries where a girl named Elena was stuck between two really hot brothers who both infinitely loved her and what not. What’s a show nowadays without a love triangle? Well, when I was younger, I loved watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer, so it’s completely obvious that I would love this show, right? I kept wondering why I hadn’t started watching it from The Pilot episode, but I just continued with my regular television schedule: Pretty Little Liars, Revenge, One Tree Hill and Once Upon A Time. People, my Thursdays were basically free, but I had no intentions of watching the show because I was so far behind! Enter my boss, Sharon Tharp, who tried to convince me to watch The Vampire Diaries. She’s pretty awesome, and we basically have the same taste in television. (She likes Taylor Swift, too, so I was totally meant to be her intern.) Seriously, all of our emails are filled with opinions and theories of what’s going to happen in PLL, OTH and now, TVD. That’s right, I finally gave in, and I'm finally all caught up with the series! Needless to say, where the hell is season 4?! It’s not too much to ask for the first episode of the fourth season to premiere this Thursday, is it?
Since I’m finally in TVD loop, I had this idea to share a few of my favorites (thus far, at least) from the show with other fans! Of course, I want to hear theories for season 4 (What is Elena going to be like as a vampire?!) and all-time favorite character, couples, etc. from everyone else because I just can’t stop talking about this show.
Favorite Salvatore Brother (aka "Team Stefan" or "Team Damon"):
Guys, there's still a chance for Elena and Damon to be together now that she's a vampire, but it's always going to be Stefan. As the seasons progressed, I could honestly see Elena and Damon together, but I never gave up on Stefan. I didn't like his evil rampage, but I never doubted that he would break through. When he finally did, it was for Elena who never once gave up on him, either. So for me, it's always going to be Team Stefan when it comes down to picking a brother for Elena. However, I love Damon as a character. So... Team Dafan?
Favorite Female Character:
Let's see how many people want to curse at me after I reveal my answer to this one. Katerina Petrova, better known as Katherine. I can't help it. If you think about it, she's made the most progress, and she's basically the smartest person (or vampire, I should say) on the show because she doesn't trust anyone! If you didn't like her after the Homecoming episode in Season 3, where she helped Stefan save his brother and himself, then you're just not human. SHE HAS FEELINGS, YOU GUYS! Don't get me wrong, Katherine is a complete bitch, but she’s brilliant at it. There were even a few times she really pissed me off and I completely hated her. It was a really hard choice to make between Katherine and Caroline for my favorite female character, but watching Katherine make progress is what won me over.
Favorite Male Character:
I already chose between the Salvatore brothers for who deserves Elena's heart, so it's impossible to ask me to choose between them for my favorite male character. Even though the brothers are super sexy and irresistible, Matt is pretty much the sweetest guy in Mystic Falls, and he just wants Elena and Caroline (both his ex-girlfriends) to be happy even if he isn't. Despite everything that’s happened to him, Matt seems to become a better person as the show goes on, while everyone else is busy killing people and turning each other into vampires. He's lost his sister and his mother, and yet, he only wants to look out for his friends. Not to mention that Rebekah even chose not to kill him! Did I mention he's hot? Because he's hot.
Favorite Couple:
Obviously, it was really hard for me not to pick Elena and Stefan, because let's face it, they're adorable together. But after all was said and done, my favorite couple is Caroline and Tyler. The way that Caroline stuck by Tyler's side while he changed into a werewolf the first time completely tugged at my heart strings. This is a vampire helping her worst enemy, a werewolf, because their friendship is a stronger bond than their hatred for the other species. These are two people who aren't supposed to be together, and that makes me want them together even more! I’m not exactly sure how things are going to pan out since Klaus is now in Tyler's body, but I’m sure he’ll take full advantage of his opportunity to be with Caroline…
Favorite Bad Guy:
It’s possible to have one of those, right? Well, I do, and it's Rebekah. I liked her the moment Klaus brought her back to life and she stabbed him. She knew it wouldn’t kill him, but she thought it might hurt. Payback is somewhat of a bitch, isn't it? Rebekah's true feelings started to show as season 3 neared its end, and I admit it: Elena may as well have driven a dagger through my heart when she stabbed Rebekah in the back (literally) after returning her mother's necklace. She was also one of the originals who actually believed in family over killing the others, and her emotions broke through when she thought about her mother. I loved that. When a vampire has feelings they aren’t supposed to, it's kind of hard not to like them.

Haha, love this! I absolutely agree about Stelena. I've always been Team Stefan even though I love Damon too. I think the phone call scene is my favorite scene in TVD history. And I love that you love Matt! I think that scene on the bridge with Elena is definitely my fave Matt scene!
