Bryce Harper hit himself in the face with a baseball bat on Friday. He bled all over the place and needed ten stitches. He put a band-aid on, stayed in the game, and took another at bat with blood running down his face. This came just days after Harper put his teammate, Mark DeRosa, on the disabled list by giving him an over-exuberant high five.
Harper was having a rough game on Friday, and after a seventh-inning ground out made him 0-4, he went into a hallway behind the Nationals dugout and smashed a bat against the wall. But the bat kicked back, and smashed Harper in the face.
"I’ve done it a million times," the 19-year-old Harper told media.
We're still only about two weeks into Bryce Harper's major league career, and I feel like I'm already running out of things to say about him. I'm having such a hard time believing that this kid is actually real.

He was in the lineup again the next day, with a nice big lump to show for himself.
"It started bleeding," Harper said. "And I was like, 'Ah, crap.' Stitched it up as fast as I can and go back out to the outfield."
It was a rookie mistake, he said. So obviously, he learned his lesson, right?
"I guess I won’t do it anymore," he said. "But I don’t know."
I don't know what he's gonna do next, either.
