Aside from a legacy, Dilla left behind plenty of unheard sounds, and for the latest posthumous release, his mother Maureen "Ma Dukes" Yancey has worked up the previously announced Rebirth of Detroit LP that features Detroit-based emcees joining up on some choice unreleased Jay Dee beats.
Obviously, from the photo above, the project has already hit the press, and Ma Dukes released a statement alongside a trailer on her goals with the LP:
"This will bring together artists that have drifted away from one another and haven't been able to work with each other lately. It's a healing process for the city. For individuals, it's going to bring back the love and the passion for the music and for what hip-hop has to offer."
Rebirth of Detroit features hip-hop hometown heroes such as Danny Brown, Amp Fiddler, Illa J, Frank Nitt, Chuck Inglish, Phat Kat and Guilty Simpson, and is set to drop on June 12. Here's the official trailer:
