Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember seeing some news shortly ago that Eminem was getting busy working on his own Shady Records sounds, but that could just be a memory hiccup. Regardless, it's applicable even if redundant, as the Detroit Free Press has reported that Slim has dropped all non-musical projects he's got his hands in so he can focus on cooking up some new sounds. Yes, that means Southpaw is being set aside as well, which, you know, I don't really see any tragedy in.
Here's what Em's spokesman Dennis Dennehy told the papers:
“He’s focusing on his music right now, so while he’s doing that, while he’s in that space, he wanted to put this on hold for the time being.”
The real focus here is that Southpaw, which is a boxing tale centered around a welterweight fighting to recover from this and that while keeping his life on track kind of deal, is being halted, which plays into the whole mess of it being switched around from Dreamworks to MGM. I really don't see the issue, but I suppose moviegoers and 8 Mile devotees are itching for the project to come to fruition. Whatever though--I'm just glad Em's working on some solo sounds.
