The TV Class of 2011-2012 was the year Homeland boosted Showtime into a full-fledged drama powerhouse, the year American Horror Story changed everything by being spookier and more ridiculously insane than anything in the entire history of television (and this came from the guy who created Glee), the year Mad Men returned to dominate your entire fucking life, and the year that The Bridesmaids Effect led to a remarkable jump in female dramedy, from HBO’s quirky Girls to NBC’s Whitney. But the adult fare occasionally paled in comparison to teen shows pulling out all the stops: The Vampire Diaries had its bloodiest and best season yet, One Tree Hill somberly ended its nine-year run with a fine finish, MTV entered the fray with hits like Teen Wolf and Awkward., and we’re sorry- HAVE YOU NOT SEEN Pretty Little Liars?! Have you not encountered the madness that is 'A' or Ezria?! While the network hits bring the critical acclaim, the most talked-about watercooler moments of the year often diverged from boardrooms and bedrooms, instead bursting from those intense high school halls of puberty and danger.
It’ll be a drama vs. comedy (with some reality thrown in- Drag Race, anyone?), teen vs. adult (and maybe some Toddlers In Tiaras) all-out war as Ology prepares its list of The 50 Greatest TV Episodes Ever 2012, and we want to know from you, our loyal Ology readers: what did you love this year? When you look back on all the incredible television of the past 12 months, what will you remember it for? We’re accepting every nominee you’ve got from June 2011 up until May 25th, 2012, so shout them all out in the comments below. Feel free to take a peek at last year’s list as well, where Mad Men’s “The Suitcase” reigned supreme amongst the likes of Breaking Bad, Parks and Recreation, Shameless, Game of Thrones, and The Walking Dead. Then come back here and let us know what you think should make this year’s double-wide list.
Except if you’re going to nominate Melissa & Joey, we suggest you back away. Back far, far away.
