It's been almost seven years since System Of A Down dropped the one-two punch of Mezmerize and Hypnotize in 2005, but despite (or perhaps because of) their busy tour schedule this year, it looks like we'll be waiting at least another one or two for new SOAD music. At least, that's the word according to frontman Serj Tankian, who… y'know… knows what he's talking about, presumably. Right.
Whoa, Dude: System Of A Down And Deftones Announce Summer Tour Dates
"When people are asking, 'When can we get new music from you?' I think it's the biggest compliment in the world," Tankian tells Billboard. "We have not made a plan to do it as of yet… I think it's something that we'll get together at the right time when we all have that headspace and do it. But, you know, it hasn't been that time yet, so I think everyone will know when it is. It's as simple as that."
There you have it—no new System Of A Down music in the foreseeable future. I know, it's a bummer. Still, you can (and should!) catch the band on tour with the Deftones this summer (see above) and/or grab a copy of Serj Tankian’s new solo album Harakiri on July 9.
