Lea Michele is probably one of my least favorite celebrities humans ever, so it pains me to admit that she looked kind of okay at last night's Met Gala honoring Schiaparelli and Prada. Despite the fact that Lea had no business being there, she wore a plunging midnight blue halter gown by Diane von Furstenberg with a retro-glam sort-of up-do with a soft, ultra-feminine makeup palette. Hollywoodlife.com caught up with celebrity makeup artist Melanie Inglessis who created Lea's beauty look for the night
First, Melanie lined Lea's eyes with a deep plum pencil, then layered a metallic copper shadow over the bulk of the lid. Then, using a soft crease brush, she smudged the edges of the plum liner to create definition, adding a touch of dark gray shadow at the lash line. To make your eyes really pop in photos, dot a small amount of champagne or cream shadow on your inner corners. I've found a cream formula like this one from Benefit works best. To finish the look, Melanie added two coats of Avon ExtraLasting in Extreme Black.
To keep from looking too done-up, be sure to leave the rest of your face natural - a swipe of blush over the cheekbones and a natural lip will do it.
