Watch Prince, Miguel, Others Perform At The Billboard Music Awards
This year's b-level awards show season continued last night with the 2013 Billboard Music Awards. As introduced by Janelle Monáe and Erykah Badu, Prince celebrated his Billboard Icon award by tearing through a "Let's Go Crazy" fronted medley with current band 3rd Eye Girl… Miguel landed a pretty hardcore kick on a woman's head during "Adorn" (seriously)… while Icona Pop, Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne and others were there because, well, why not?

Be sure to really let
It's still mind numbing to think that MCA... one third of the Beastie Boys, inarguably one of the most inventive, musically and stylistically ambitious groups in hip-hop and rock history... is really gone. After a nearly three year struggle with cancer that delayed the now-final Beastie Boys album Hot Sauce Committee Part Two and kept the group from performing live (including at last month's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony), Adam Yauch passed away at home in New York City—a town that's sure to be blasting Beasties classics all weekend and beyond.
MCA was a lot of people's favorite Beastie Boy—including mine. One of the reasons I respected, admired and looked up to him for inspiration was his massively underrated music video, feature film and film production work. Under his characteristically goofy nom de plume Nathanial Hörnblowér (remember the ridiculous costume?), Yauch directed many of the Beastie Boys' most iconic music videos, including "Intergalactic", "So What'cha Want", "Alive", "Make Some Noise" and more. In 2002, he expanded his NYC recording studio—dubbed Oscilloscope Laboratories—into an award-winning film production company, releasing acclaimed features like Wendy And Lucy, The Messenger,Howl, We Need To Talk About Kevin, and Yauch's own full-length features: the Beastie Boys Madison Square Garden concert film Awesome! I F—king Shot Thatand the basketball documentary Gunnin' For That No. 1 Shot.
In honor of Adam Yauch's love for independent film and prolific music video output (The Criterion Collection compiled many of the Beastie Boys' best videos, including many of MCA's, as The Beastie Boys Video Anthology in 2000), we've compiled all 20 of Yauch's Beastie Boys music videos, from the Paul's Boutiquefavorite "Looking Down The Barrel Of A Gun" through last year's "Fight For Your Right" revamp, "Make Some Noise".
