Jeff Francoeur seems like a nice enough guy, even though he has failed to live up to the promise of his early career. After bouncing around a bit over the past few seasons, Francoeur has settled in at Kansas City, so much so that they've named the right field stands "The Frenchy Quarter" in his honor. That's cool, I guess; everyone knows how much the French love baseball, and old French Heart embodies their passion for the game.
Anywho, the Royals run Thursday promotions related to The Frenchy Quarter, and yesterday Francoeur added his own twist: cold, hard cash.
Francoeur tossed an autographed ball, a $100 bill and a note that said, "Buy some beer on me" into the stands. Needless to say, the fans were ecstatic, especially since $100 at a baseball game is enough to buy AT LEAST three beers.
The problem, of course, is that it will take infinitely more than $100's worth of beef for Kansas City fans to drink away the pain of watching the Royals year after year.
Here's a reaction video (h/t Deadspin).
