A lot of people are comparing this news to the actually awesome news that they're remaking The Mummy. But this is not awesome news. In fact, this is just weird news that happens when other news is slow. If I were you, and I just might be (whoa, weird), I'd just watch The Dark Knight Rises trailer over and over again.
But if you're really all that interested, they're remaking Van Helsing with Tom Cruise. That's right they're remaking the not actually popular to begin with movie with a less than popular actor that appeared in the first. Don't get me wrong, I think Tom Cruise is a major f*cking boss (Ghost Protocol 4Evah) but you're going to choose him over Hugh Jackman? Puh-leeze.
The guys writing the reboot, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, aren't the worst. They worked on J.J. Abrams' Star Trek, Fringe and Alias. Then there's Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (yeesh) and Hawaii Five-0. But hey, you can't win them all. Anyway, they're super jazzed about rebooting the film and working with Universal (who just had a birthday). It's all coming together for them.
But seriously, what about us? What about the folks out there who honestly don't give a shit about Van Helsing, unless he's hunting down various members of the Cullen family? Do you guys even remember how ridiculous Kate Beckinsale's accent was in that film?
