It's hard to believe a year has already passed since we all set our alarms for 5 a.m. to watch the entirety of the Royal Wedding on TV, but today marks the first anniversary for Prince William and Kate Middleton. It's been 366 (Leap Year!) days of pregnancy rumors, accusations of anorexia and navy-on-navy-on-navy ensembles, but just for a moment, I'll take a break from antagonizing the Duchess' sartorial missteps to point out the times she got it right. In honor of the couple's love - and, of course, the Kate Middleton effect - let's take a look back on the trends that proliferated thanks to Kate herself.
Though Kate Middleton generally keeps a low profile, she most certainly knows how to glam it up on a red carpet. Her favorite style? A drapey, cinched-at-the-waist stunner in a neutral hue.

Kate's dark tresses are a perfect contrast to knee-length white and cream day dresses. Of course, most of her shifts featured a cinched waist - something that helped fuel false pregnancy rumors all year long.

Despite cooler weather, the Duchess would never be caught dead in a winter puffer coat. Instead, she showed off her royally trim figure with flattering belted coats in nearly every hue.

I know, I know. I've ben particularly harsh on Kate Middleton's affinity for navy, but most of the time, she does a great job mixing the shade with complimenting tones and textures. One of my favorite outfits of the past year was the lace-patterned Erdem knee-length dress she wore during her Canadian tour.
