Like every legendary producer (or amateur that happens to have very wealthy parents and a lot of free shelving space), late beat-making mastermind J Dilla held down a diverse collections of vinyls that could put just about any record store to shame, and though most of his sampling contraband has been contained within the remnants of his relic recording studio, a record store employee in Detroit claims that he's stumbled across some 8,000 vinyls that may belong to hip-hop's greatest producer.
Jeff Bubeck, an employee at the UHF record store in Royal Oak, Michigan tells the tale of stumbling across a vinyl collection in an abandoned storage unit that he believes belonged to Dilla due to the fact that a portion of the records bear his signature of ownership.
UNH plans to put the collection on sale for God knows how much, but the more interesting question here is what else the cache might contain. There are supposed unmarked beat tapes and vinyls amongst the piles, which could mean undiscovered Dilla music considering the fact that he pumped out product (and this is from an interview) on a daily basis for his contemporaries to consider.
That's really it for now, but if you're in the area, hit up UNH, because there should be some lucky finds. No doubt Ma Dukes and the Dilla estate will let us know if they plan to put out any freshly discovered content.
