Look, I know how much you like Game of Thrones. It combines two of your favorite things: swords and magic. Those are two wonderful things and two things that would fit perfectly into a video game. But please just take a second and think about the last great video game you've played that was based on a TV show, movie, or book. Go ahead, I'm waiting.
I want this to work. It seems like a great idea, a perfect match between a game genre and a property, but I mean these pictures do not inspire a lot of confidence. It looks like just another medieval swordplay game and, honestly, I've still got Skyrim if I need my fix of that. The things that are most appealing about George R. R. Martin's series are the toughest things to carry across in a video game and they would take a lot of care and detail to get right. I'm not saying it's not possible for this to be a great game, but so far, all signs are pointing to another generic franchise cash-in.
Anyway, if your enthusiasm isn't dampened, you can check out the whole set here. The game will be out on PS3, XBox 360, and PC in "Quarter 2," which presumably means May or June.
