As part of his plan to be responsible for all recorded music by the year 2019, Jack White has announced that he will be providing the score for Jerry Bruckheimer's upcoming, totally serious looking reboot of The Lone Ranger. I mean, just look at Johnny Depp in that picture; that's some serious gravitas. This is a weighty film, one with real issues on it's mind, and it is only appropriate that a musician on the level of White come in to underscore that.
All kidding aside, White's selection is certainly the most interesting thing about this movie to date and he has a little experience. He collaborated on music for 2003's Cold Mountain and, last year, he worked on Danger Mouse's spaghetti western influence album Rome (although not the song that was in the Breaking Bad finale, which is the only song I know from that record). Bruckheimer also promises that White will be recording a "re-imagined version of the William Tell Overture" so you have that to look forward to which is nice.
