If you are my age, your first exposure to JGL (Joseph Gordon-Levitt to those of you who hate abbreviations) was not in Brick or Mysterious Skin or even 3rd Rock From the Sun but in the seminal 1994 sports and magic masterpiece Angels in the Outfield. The remake of the 1951 movie starred Gordon-Levitt as a young orphan who will prays for help when he is told that he will only have a family "when the Angels win the pennant." So God dispatches a bunch of angels, led by Christopher Lloyd, to help manager Danny Glover, washed-up pitcher Tony Danza, and the rest of the Angels win. And then, in the end, the Angels have to win without divine help but, in order to make Tony Danza believe, JGL flaps his arms (the symbol to let them know they have angels helping) and Danny Glover goes, "you've got angels with you now" and Tony Danza gets the guy out and...sorry, I think I need a moment. Anyway, the point is that movie is the truth.
So now fast forward to 2012 and Joseph Gordon-Levitt is a bona fide movie star, set to make his directoral debut, and what better way to celebrate than by getting the band back together. Yes, his Angels in the Outfield co-star Tony Danza is going to be in the untitled movie, playing Gordon-Levitt's father. Also, apparently the movie involves a porn addiction? Whatever, let's just stand up in our cubicles, flap our arms slowly, and move on.
