Ah, for the simple days when we Mac users could smugly mock the virus-addled PC folks. No more, because for the last few weeks the Apple world has been plagued by the Flashback Trojan, a nasty, Mac-only virus. Fortunately, Apple still seems to be getting it under control, but supposedly close to 140,000 users are still affected.
Gizmodo has an easy, two-step guide on how to find out if you have the virus and take steps to get it off your system. First, download the newest Mac security update, which (even if it took them way too long) will protect your computer from the virus going forward. Then check out F-Secure's Flashback Removal tool, which will serach your computer to see if the virus is on there and then eradicate any traces of it still remaining on your hard drive.
So my fellow Mac folks, have you found this whole thing a little unsettling? Are you worried about Apple's somewhat slow response or the fact that the system doesn't seem quite as immune to viruses as it used to be? Or are you unconcerned? And are you PC people a little amused by this whole thing? It's okay; you can be honest.
