Rick Santorum ended his presidential campaign earlier this week after a weekend in which his daughter, Bella, was hospitalized (Bella suffers from a serious chromosonal disease called Trisomy 18). Romney suspended his attack ads on Monday out of respect, and the media took a day off from pressuring the candidate. Had Santorum claimed he was dropping out to spend more time with his family, the old evasive saw actually would actually have been true for once. A little sweet, huh?
That was like, three days ago. Now three-year-old just-out-of-the-hospital Bella is an NRA member for life. Santorum revealed the great news while speaking to at the national meeting of the NRA in St. Louis on Friday. "[My wife] Karen and I are life members of the NRA, and we wanted to announce today that…now Bella is a life member of the NRA, too. I hope it is a long life."
See how he slipped that in at the end? If you blinked, you'd miss him using his sick daughter as a political pawn.
