In what would have counted as an Onion headline as recently as six months ago, panda poet and never-a-serious-contender-for-the-White-House-not-even-for-a-moment Next Gingrich let loose on Fox News in a private meeting in Delaware on Wednesday, criticizing Fox for being — wait for it — biased.
According to Real Clear Politics, which was granted access to the meeting, Gingrich told a group of Delaware tea party leaders at Wesley College:
I think FOX has been for Romney all the way through. In our experience, Callista and I both believe CNN is less biased than FOX this year. We are more likely to get neutral coverage out of CNN than we are of FOX, and we’re more likely to get distortion out of FOX. That's just a fact.
Real Clear Politics was Real Clear Quick to point out that Gingrich was in the employ of the venerable news organization as recently as last year. But Mr. Idea Candidate has run a strident campaign against the media, and it was only a matter of time until he ran out of liberal strawmen and turned on his own.
Gingrich is also and especially miffed at Washington Post columnist and noted sports show host George Will, who savaged Gingrich in a column that appeared around one of Gingrich's mini-surges in the polls:
In the case of Will, I was on [George] Stephanopoulos on Sunday morning with him, and it was kind of a 'You're not allowed to run for office — I mean, if you could run for office, why am I not running for office?' And it’s almost like they were personally offended. You know, 'This can't be real, and how can this guy go do that?' I got that reaction from Will a few years back about writing a book because I'm supposed to be a politician. He's supposed to be the writer. Well, I've now written 24 books, and 13 of them are New York Times bestsellers. I mean, there's a morning when George ought to just get over it.
PoliticOlogy noted a couple days ago that Gingrich blatantly stated he was only remaining in the race to serve the people paying him to be in the race. So now we know who's not been paying him.
