When news broke that Britney Spears got engaged to long time beau Jason Trawick, we were all beyond excited for the famed, yet troubled international pop-star. After her 2008 psychological public meltdown, the pop princess has been able to bounce back with an all new album, a grand international tour and a new healthy and happy relationship. Long gone are the days of shaved skulls and frequent drug tests. Mommy Spears is obviously back on track.
However, Poppa Jamie Spears and the star's attorney Andrew Wallet are steadfast in making sure that the marriage between Britney and her new fiance start off on the right foot. And so both gentlemen, who currently serve as Brit’s conservators, have extended their titles to Trawick as well; meaning Jason will now step in as an observant guardian over Britney’s every day decisions, including her choice of diet, wardrobe and medical care.
A source tells People that Spears still has an immense amount of personal and financial freedom and that the title of conservator is really only a formality between herself and her closest advisors. However, the formalities are court ordered and will not be lifted until a judge decides that Brit Brit is ready and able to manage her daily affairs on her own.
Anyone’s significant other by default is supposed to have their best interests in mind and at heart. But is it really necessary for a s/o to be legally responsible for their mate's general well being?
