This teenage girl graduated from high school a year ahead of her class, and she even plans on attending college. However, even with these credentials, she wasn't smart enough to use protection. Now, she's pregnant at 16.
Not only is Briana having trouble with her pregnancy, but her entire family is having a hard time with her decision to keep her baby. Previously, her sister, Brittney, got an abortion and she even begins to question whether she made the right decision.
The baby's father, Devon, has no major interest in helping her after their baby girl is born, so Briana picks their daughter's first name by herself -- she decides on the name Nova. Finally, she and Devon meet up to discuss the upcoming responsibilities, and the issue of the baby's last name is put on the table. Briana tells Devon that if he wants their daughter to have his last name, then he has to man up, get a job and prove that he wants to be a father. (Something tells me that if Brianna chooses the baby's name by herself and there is no real objection or input from Devon, then he's not likely to step up to the plate now.)
It looks like Briana literally scared baby Nova out of her, because after visiting a haunted house for a little fun, she goes into pregnancy later that night. And surprisingly, her boyfriend shows up at the hospital. However, the next morning, he decides to play basketball with his friends rather than stay with Briana and Nova, so Briana makes the decision to give their daughter her last name.
Devon finally comes around to see his daughter, and rather than spend time with her, he ignores Briana and her mother AND he stays on his cell phone the entire time. However, Briana remains strong and she even visits a local community college to get more information about classes and how long it will take her to complete her courses.
Like any teen mom, Briana wants to spend more time with her friends and just be a regular teenager, but taking care of a newborn (without any help from the father) is her main focus.
SumOlogy: If you're not ready for the responsibilities that come with being a mother and father, then don't just use protection one or two times, USE PROTECTION EVERY SINGLE TIME!
