Mackenzie
Competitive cheerleading was Mackenzie's #1 priority before she found out she is pregnant with a baby boy. Now, cheerleading gets bumped down to #2, and her boyfriend Josh is left at #3. Josh rides bulls and wild horses as his main hobby AND source of income (if he wins competitions). Because he isn't making enough money competing in rodeos, he and Katie are in desperate need of jobs so they can afford daycare.
Katie has to worry about financial issues, giving birth to her son and not being able to cheer anymore, but her plate completely overflows when Josh gets into a car accident that could prevent him from helping with the baby after he is born. However, he recovers from the accident and he's back to normal in time to help take care of his son. Because baby Gannon is so big (9lbs, 7oz. to be exact), Katie has to have a C-section.
Even after her pregnancy, Katie is determined to return to the mat since her main goal is to win state in tumbling. However, Katie isn't the only one who wants to return to her passion -- Josh wants to attempt to ride bulls again after his car accident. Now, rather than being "normal" teenagers and having fun, these parents are busy taking care of and providing for their newborn son.
Katie:
This independent teenager from Wyoming is pregnant with a baby girl. Unlike some teenage mothers, Katie graduates from high school and starts community college online. Even though Katie doesn't think it is the best option, her boyfriend Joey suggests they should live with his mother after the baby is born. The big day finally arrives and even after being asked several times if she wants an epidural, Katie gives birth to her 7lbs 2oz. baby girl, Molli -- naturally.
After giving birth, she and Joey live with his mother (and his siblings) until he finally gets a job so they can afford a place of their own. They move into an apartment together so they can be a family, but while Joey works night shifts, Katie is home alone. She is busy changing, feeding and bathing Molli AND she is also struggling to finish her online courses. Not only does she have to take online tests and do homework for her classes, but she has to complete this work with a screaming baby.
This Wyoming native has goals and dreams of moving to Denver, Colorado for college, but the complications that come with being a teenage mom could possibly alter Katie's plans.
SumOlogy: "Don't have sex because you will get pregnant and die. Don't have sex in the missionary position, don't have sex standing up. Just don't do it. OK? Promise? OK, now everybody take some rubbers."
Grade: C
Leftovers
Mackenzie, even with a HUGE belly, still fits into her cheer uniform and Katie gives birth naturally. I applaud both girls for that, at least.
Taking birth control wasn't an option for Mackenzie because she didn't want to gain weight. Ummm...
I don't care if you're from Oklahoma, it is NOT okay to even think about naming your baby Buckshot OR Doeshot. Just, no.
"If [condoms] were there, we used them. If not, we just did our thing." -Joey (And you wonder why you're pregnant...?)
