Though I first approached this story with Jennifer Aniston-Is-Pregnant skepticism, it turns out folks straight from The Hunger Games set confirmed that Jennifer Lawrence's transition into Katniss Everdeen had a 5-figure price tag attached to it. The natural blonde didn't want to dye her tresses, so head hair designer (is that even a real job?) Linda Flowers went on an extensive wig hunt.
"I rented $30,000 dollars of hair, which is five $6,000 lace wigs with all different shades of brown from the light brown, a brown with a little red in it," Flowers told BellaSugar. "It made Jennifer comfortable to know that we weren't going to experiment with her color."
Um, what? Perhaps I'm on my own here as a non-Hunger Games addict, but that is goddamn ridiculous. Still, the signature Katniss braid is more about functionality than fashion.
"It was a real functioning braid that someone who hunts when she has to go and get her bow & arrow and shoot," Flowers added. "I know that her hair had to be contained at the nape. I just didn't want to do a side braid so I started it at one end and I did a reverse French braid."
