The guessing game over who will direct the next James Bond screen adventure and attempt to fill the intimidating shoes of non-returning Skyfall director Sam Mendes continues. Bummer: 'Skyfall' Director Sam Mendes Won't Return For Next James Bond Film
Unsurprising, but Oscar-winning Skyfall director Sam Mendes has formally turned down the offer to direct the next James Bond film--tentatively titled (per tradition) Bond 24—after vaguely hinting that he'd be open to helming another 007 adventure. "It has been a very difficult decision not to accept [producers] Michael [G. Wilson] and Barbara [Broccoli's] very generous offer to direct the next Bond movie," says Mendes. "Directing Skyfall was one of the best experiences of my professional life, but I have theatre and other commitments, including productions of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory and King Lear, that need my complete focus over the next year and beyond."

Would you like to day dream about a film that may never actually happen but should? Well, Tom Hardy just incepted me and now I can't shake this idea out of my head. He was on some morning show saying that one role he'd like to take over is that of the iconic James Bond. But he'd only be James Bond if Christopher Nolan was directing.

 

My feelings:

 

But seriously how awesome would a Nolan helmed James Bond be? I mean, the great part about this news story is that I still like Daniel Craig's James Bond and have a feeling that Skyfall is going to be pretty good. I like Sam Mendes and have a feeling he's going to be doing a lot of good work for his first (relatively) action film. 

But despite all that, I'd like for one of you to start a Kickstarter or petition or something so that Nolan understands that this may have just been a conversation to Hardy but it means so much more to me. It means everything. I want this, I need this. You don't know the kind of stress I've been under lately.

Brett Warner: I would love to see Nolan do a Bond movie, I'll give ya that-- the last act of Inception is a total On Her Majesty's Secret Service nod.

p.s. If Hardy plays Bond, he has to bring back Roger Moore's "I'll get it on with the hotel secretary just to pass the time" schtick.
