Watch This: Earl Sweatshirt And RZA Preview New Track At Syracuse
Well, I don't really know what's going on with Doris, but Earl's "Chum" and "Whoa" have certainly managed to stay in rotation while we're waiting for a release date, and to tag on some new content, Earl decided to preview a new RZA-featured track (untitled, as of now), while performing at Syracuse a moment ago.
As you would assume, Earl Sweatshirt's winding lyrics are as serpentine as ever, and the RZA action is as prime as could be. Though it's your basic iPhone recording, you can still catch a decent idea of what the track is going to sound like--somewhere between a chiller and heater, at least to me--and the hook, "I'm going to f*ck the freckles off your face," promises that this new track is going to be exactly what we saw on Earl way back when.
Thats about it. You can catch the track below. We'll keep you updated on Doris.
...
We saw some previews of the cult-famed Earl Sweatshirt making his return from the Samoan correctional facility on the Odd Future Tape Vol. 2 that's dropping today, and to run along with the promo, Peter Rosenberg linked back up with the OFWGKTA slough, Earl included, to catch some words from the "prodigal" kid rapper.
The most interesting thing here is that you can see without question how Earl is still sitting in the shock of fame alongside Tyler and his cohorts who have been thriving in it; he's laconic, shy and, as you would expect, somewhat shell-shocked by the whole situation. Think getting drafted into Vietnam, except backwards. I don't think it's anything to criticize though--it'd be hard enough for anybody to come back having been cast into the spotlight while gone, let alone a 16-year-old kid who people are comparing to Nas.
As well, Earl hopped in to clarify his esoteric hiatus, stating that he wasn't shuffled off to the South Pacific because of his mom's distaste for his music, but because of, we'll say, assumed extracurricular activities that didn't quite fall into the line of accepted conduct, at least in the overbearing moral compass of Jon Doe American.
Anyway, here's the full deal, it's worth watch, so check it out and share your thoughts here.
