'Game of Thrones', 'Dexter' Most Illegally Downloaded Shows of 2012
While TV shows typically live and die by the all-telling Nielsen ratings, there's still an importatnt stat that should--but isn't entirely--noted when it comes to measuring the popularity of the shows we love: ILLEGAL DOWNLOADS! And if you think that the porportion of downloads via torrents to actual viewers is equal, you'd be wrong: the year's most downloaded series, HBO's Game of Thrones only lands about 4.2 million weekly viewers, paling in comparison to hits like The Big Bang Theory (15.8 million) and How I Met Your Mother (10.4 million). Below, find the Top 10 most pirated shows of 2012: 1. Game of Thrones (4.28 million downloads/4.20 million weekly viewers)2. Dexter (3.85 million/2.75 million)3. The Big Bang Theory (3.20 million/15.82 million)4. How I Met Your Mother (2.96 million/10.14 mill...

A 'Big Bang Theory' Baby Has Arrived!
Big Bang Theory actor Simon Helberg and his wife Jocelyn Towne have welcomed daughter Adeline on May 8, a rep confirms to Us Weekly. The couple first announced that they were expecting in January. "The family is thrilled," a source says. "Simon is excited to be a father -- he's been doing his reading." The two married in 2007 and this is their very first child together. Adeline has officially become the very first baby to join the CBS cast! Kunal Nayyar married in March 2012 while Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco and Jim Parsons don't seem to be anywhere near starting a family just yet. Congratulations to the happy couple! Reading up on the baby books, you say? What a Howard Wolowitz way to go, my friend! -- What do you think about the baby name? Comment below! Editor: @rosewebber

'The Big Bang Theory' Recap: "The Good Guy Fluctuation"
One thing separating The Big Bang Theory from other Thursday comedies is that it rarely relies on holidays to create or move a story line. I would love to say it's because the creators are better than relying on slutty Halloween costumes or Christmas cheer to real in viewers. But the truth is that unlike Community or Parks and Rec, The Big Bang Theory doesn't utilize holidays well. As much as I love this geeky group, they lack the comedy when holidays roll around, and tonight's episode proved it. We open with Sheldon, alone in his office, working on some crazy a--- equation. The start to any standard horror film. As he works, he hears spooky sounds and heads into the hall, only to b...

'Big Bang Theory's' Kaley Cuoco Is Engaged!
The Big Bang Theory's Kaley Cuoco is engaged! A rep for the actress confirmed the great news to People. Kaley is set to wed boyfriend and addiction specialist Josh 'Lazie' Resnik.According to the rep, "The surprise proposal took place during a quiet date night at home. The couple are very excited to begin their wedding planning."The couple look like such a great pair and he even resembles Kaley's past boyfriend and co-star Johnny Galecki. She admitted in 2010 that the two had been dating secretly for two years but the relationship eventually ran its course. At the time she stated, "We were so protective of ourselves and the show and didn't want anything to ruin that. But that also made it sad, t...

'The Big Bang Theory' Recap: "The Pulled Grion Extrapolation
The Big Bang Theory continued to pull out the big, comedic guns with the third episode of the season. In the beginning, the men made the show funny. Mainly because there was only one girl on set and she got stuck with the dumb-blond stereotype. Last season, however, Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady brought some much needed estrogen to the show. Now normally I don't like the addition of new characters. They either annoy the hell out of me (EX: Priya from Big Bang Theory) or add nothing to the show (EX: Priya from Big Bang Theory). But the addition of Bernadette (Melissa Ruach) and Amy (Mayim Bialik) was a wise decision. The two actresses took these characters from side-kicks to stars, and they prove it in this episode. The episode began as most do: enjoying takeout around the table. As Bernadette and Howard leave for a movie, Sheldon sees this as an off...

'Star Trek' Stars Come to Big Bang Theory
For several seasons, Sheldon Cooper has hated Will Wheaton, the actor behind Star Trek's Wesley Crusher. But will Sheldon put his hatred aside for the chance of a lifetime?TVGuide.com revealed that a mini Star Trek: The Next Generation reunion will occur on the October 13 episode of The Big Bang Theory. During the episode, Wheaton offers Cooper the chance to meet fellow Star Trek star Brent Spiner, the man behind Commander Data. While there were a number of characters show creators could have chose from, exec producer Bill Prady felt Cooper connected best to Commander Data. After all, both are socially awkward to the point of amusement and neither can express emotions in a normal way. Prady promises an amusing episode that Star Trek fans and Big Bang fans will enjoy. Hell, even the people who aren't attached ot either show wi...

'The Big Bang Theory' Recap: "The Skank Reflex Analysis" + "The Infestation Hypothesis" (Season Premiere)
GEEK and TV readers can finally unite for a common ology: The Big Bang Theory. This year, Ology will bring weekly recaps of the ferdiest (funniest + nerdiest) show on television. For those who still jeer Jim Parsons' Emmy win (yeah I'm looking at you Rainn Wilson), I ask you to look no further than tonight's double episode. Parson revived the awkward, obnoxious, and often oblivious character of Sheldon Cooper for a season premiere worthy of multiple Emmys. Making someone that dis-likable so lovable is a talent in and of itself. Add the delivery of jokes and the body language, and its no surprise that Parsons continues to shine. But Parsons is not alone. The rest of the cast brings to life these multi-dimensional characters that you can't wait to see every week. Despite the larger cast last season, The Big Bang Theory never strayed far from it'...

Mayim Bialik Makes 'Big Bang Theory' Comeback
Holy sh*t, it's Blossom!'90s coming-of-age sitcom star Mayim Bialik's first appearance on the Emmy-winning "Nerds + Dumb Blonde = Hilarity" CBS sitcom Big Bang Theory came in the finale of last season, when she appeared as Sheldon's friend Amy. The show apparently invited her back for this season, during which she's set to appear sporadically but be billed as a regular on the credits.Bialik, thrilled that she got her wish to appear on the show, told E! "From a personal, selfish standpoint, I'd like to work every week. I think they'd like people to keep guessing what's going to happen with this character, but I think there are still plenty of plots that they want to spread out throughout the season."But she'll always be Bl...

Barenaked Ladies Perform 'Big Bang Theory' Theme On Set
Yep, it's time for another round of "Is It News" Monday, in which the Ology office attempts to strain some actual-news wheat from the mostly-boring-and-stupid chaff that is the last 4 post-weekend hours. SPOILER: It is usually not news. But this one can go either way. Mayim Bialik's making a comeback on Big Bang Theory With The Big Bang Theory itself, as well as stars Jim Parsons and Johnny Galecki, nominated for a boatload of Emmys this season, the cast of the hit sitcom certainly has a lot to celebrate, and as we all know, there ain't no celebration like a Barenaked Ladies music video. NO THERE IS NOT.Shot to promote the syndication launch this fall, the band, bes...

CBS Renews 18 Primetime Shows

Jeremy Popkin
The Big Bang Theory
1 Comments

Good news for old people! CBS has announced renewals for 18 of its primetime shows, meaning your parents’ DVR will be fully booked for the 2012-2013 season!

The network picked up new seasons for nine of its dramas, four comedies, three reality shows, and long running news programs 60 Minutes and 48 Hours.

Comedies Mike & Molly and 2 Broke Girls join the previously renewed How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory for the network’s sitcom lineup next year. Not surprisingly left out of the announcement were deals for Rules of Engagement and Rob, which stand out like two kids nobody asked to the prom for obvious reasons. A deal has yet to be reached for a new season of Two and a Half Men, but we can’t imagine not getting another year of watching Angus T. Jones awkwardly grow up.

Practically every one of the network’s procedural dramas have been picked up, with renewals for Hawaii Five-0, Criminal Minds, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Person of Interest, The Mentalist, Blue Bloods, The Good Wife, NCIS and NCIS: LA.  Not on the list are CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, A Giften Man, and Unforgettable. Please don't take David Caruso from us, CBS! He has so many crime puns to give the world!

Reality shows Survivor and The Amazing Race have been inevitably renewed, with Undercover Boss also getting picked up to continue America’s love affair with our corporate masters.

Any shows you guys are excited to hear get renewed? Is anybody worried about Rob being cancelled? You can tell us. We won’t judge! (Maybe we will, just a little.)
