The Democratic party of Lake County, Florida, was forced to remove a flag that hung over their headquarters on Tuesday after complaints flew in that the flag in question was offensive and denigrated Old Glory. Keep staring at it and you’ll see. It takes a while…. Its red, white and blue… There are strips and … Oh, there it is: the giant, scowling Obama face in the place of the 50 stars that represent the states in the Union.
Yeah, this is probably universally offensive. The only thing more offensive is the woman in this video who attempted to defend the flag against the angry mob of veterans who dragged the media to the Democratic party’s headquarters to ensure that this story was reported.
There is nothing wrong with a little hero worship, but this is ridiculous. The cult of personality that surrounded President Obama in 2008 has dissipated dramatically since he has had to perform the divisive tasks required of a president, but he still has still millions of smitten fans for whom this is not offensive in the slightest.
You would think they would have at least chosen a smiling picture of Obama rather than a disapproving grimace that one would expect to see on a Soviet monument now populating the graveyards of Marxism across Europe and Asia. Perhaps that was the idea – scare the ever broadening coalition of opposition to Obama with an angry flag!
If that was the intention, I don’t think it worked.
