Blur may or may not be releasing an entire album of new material this year, but there's still reason for us Damon Albarn die-hards to get excited—the extra-busy Britpop icon is putting the finishing touches on a proper studio recording of last year's Dr Dee opera. (For the record, that's four bands, two operas, and a handful of one-off albums for Mr. Albarn. What have your other favorite musicians done lately, eh?)
Pitchforkreports that the album (out May 8 via Virgin Records) will feature all 18 songs from the opera, recorded in part with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. If you live across the pond and missed it the first time around, Damon & Co. will be performing selections from Dr Dee at OneFest in Wiltshire, Engladn on April 14 and the entire opera on June 25-26, 28-29, July 4 and 6-7 at the English National Opera in the London Coliseum.
Dr Dee tracklisting:
"The Golden Dawn" "Apple Carts" "Oh Spirit Animate Us" "The Moon Exalted" "A Man Of England" "Saturn" "Coronation" "The Marvelous Dream" "A Prayer" "Edward Kelley" "Preparation" "9 Point Star" "Temptation Comes In The Afternoon" "Watching The Fire That Waltzed Away" "Moon (Interlude)" "Cathedrals" "Tree Of Life" "The Dancing King"
