It's a little late in the game for Crystal Castles to be releasing new music videos from their 2010 self-titled album, but no complaints here—electronic noisemakers Alice Glass and Ethan Kath teamed up with Vs. Magazine on a typically bleak but gorgeous new video for my favorite Crystal Castles track, "Suffocation". There's an abandoned mansion... lots of black clothes and caked mascara... Ethan directed it... what's not to love, right?
Check it out exclusively on Vimeo.
Okay, so Alice looks a little Marilyn Manson with all that lipstick on... and a little Fiona Apple's "Criminal" in her underwear... but so what? The video is stark, bold, and fits the song's gloomy but propulsive sound like a black lace glove. (Not crazy about how they opted to cut out the song's airy keyboard outro... my favorite part!)
