First and foremost, let's make things clear here: Shakira is not joining the Roc Nation family as an artist, at least by what has been released so far. The story is (according to XXL), that our truth-telling-hipped Colombian caroler is only joining Hov's label as a member of the management team, so if you were hoping to begin seeing some collaborations with J. Cole and Jay Electronica (which, even if it were confirmed, would only happen 5 years from now), choke on the pipe dream.
Shakira joins the likes of Santigold, Jahlil Beats, Ester Dean and others as part of the management crew, and that being said, I really don't know what her responsibilities entail. Maybe she'll be managing crafts and service tables at music video shoots. Maybe she'll be organizing hotel stays for emcees while they're in the depths of a tour. Maybe she'll just be "managing" miscellaneous circumstances. Who knows. Regardless, it's an interesting addition to the label, and, judging by Jay-Z's standard of what "work ethic" really is, she'll probably be driven into the ground by mid-December.
Anyway, that's that.
