Hot on the heels of presenting her
successful Fall 2012 collection to a ton of salivating critics (in a word,
everyone DIED), next up for the stylist-turned-designer is...Tiffany’s! Don’t
get too excited - Rachel isn’t designing any diamonds for the iconic company -
but she did design the five front windows.
Having pretty much done it all
(styling too many celebs to count, having the cutest baby, a successful TV show
and eponymous clothing line…), Zoe was excited to take on the Tiffany’s
challenge and told Elle that the challenge, surprisingly, wasn’t an easy
one. “You have to conceptualize something very large, like a very special idea
and concept, but it has to really fit into a very, very small box, so it’s a
very specific process.” Sounds about right.
The five windows show off fashion
from the 1930s to the 1970s (70s are a decade in which Zoe knows all too well)
but this task was harder than originally anticipated. “Fashion overlaps,
style-wise, so it was about making [the backgrounds] very different. For
example, the 30s and 40s kind of involved more feathers and maribou and
diamonds and boudoir.”
Like any girl would say, or think,
diamonds make the outfit and this rings true for Zoe as well! “The jewelry very
often transforms the dress. You can make it very 50s, 70s or even 20s depending
on the jewels.” Rachel’s jewel of choice? “I’m a freak about emeralds.”
With the ending of Fashion Week also
occurring, Zoe told Elle about her favorite show. “Marc Jacobs was
ridiculously incredible, but Rodarte was pretty spectacular, too.”
Swing by 5th and 57th to check out the incredible Rachel Zoe designed windows.
Hopefully I’ll snag some pics of my own tonight and show them off tomorrow.
Do you think Rachel Zoe and Tiffany’s is a perfect
collaboration?
