Lionsgate announced today that they are taking Hunger Games to the next level by releasing it in IMAX for one week. What does this mean? Well, Lionsgate will make even more money now that fans will be bum rushing the theater for premo seats (like they weren't going to be a lot of fans...).
I don't want to doubt on Lionsgate, but I'm thinking that they'll probably extend the IMAX showings for more than a week. Right now they'll tell you that IMAX screenings will only be available for the first week, but they're not going to stick to that. Of course, don't take my word for it, I wouldn't want to deprive you of tribute slaughter happening on giant screens across the nation.
This should be more encouragement for you to buy tickets in February when they go on sale. Don't slack off. Don't even try to plan it with your friends. Just buy the tickets. I learned this the hard way, with the frequently mentioned tale of me missing out on midnight Dark Knight Rises in IMAX tickets. Of all the things I've done in my life, that's the one I regret the most. That includes prom night.
