Every hip-hop head knows the importance of next week with Dilla's birthday and the anniversary of his death falling on Tuesday (February 7) and Friday (February 10), and in light of the occasion, some rare photographs of Jay Dee's personal record collection and studio have been unearthed and released to the public.
The Doctor's Orders managed to excavate some photos dating back to Dilla's days of fine-tuning Common's 2000 album Like Water For Chocolate, and showcase his massive record collection which fueled many of the beats that would come as he continued to experiment with sampling (notice that they're all in pristine condition).
Here's the set of pictures, check them out, throw up your thoughts. Check back in next week for a full-out tribute to Dilla's life and legacy.
